Dr. Harivansh Chopra, President of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine, with over 40 years of experience as an academician and a practitioner of preventive medicine and public health, dwelt on the magnitude of the problem of malnutrition among under-fives and the challenges in tackling it. His experience with a cohort of 1000 infants illustrated some of the innovative public health approaches that have been found to be beneficial in controlling this problem.
