Programme Objectives

The PhD programme at DYPU School of Public Health has a structured coursework and hands on exposure that will enable candidates to adopt the necessary academic rigour and analytical skills in the realm of public health.

Eligibility

Prospective candidate must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution and must have demonstrated significant interest in public health related areas. Candidates having significant research and teaching experience would be preferred. Field based work experience in public health will be an added advantage.

The School offers PhD programs in the following broad areas:

  • Epidemiology

  • Sexual & Reproductive Health

  • Health System Research

  • Health Promotion and Health Behavior

  • Non-Communicable Disease epidemiology

  • Public Health Nutrition

  • Social and Behavioural Sciences

Categories of Ph.D. Candidates:

  1. Full Time candidates: All candidates who pursue full time research in this University shall belong to this category.
  2. Part Time (Internal) candidates: Candidates employed with DYPU and pursuing part time research with the school.
  3. Part Time (External) Candidates: Candidates working in other institutions and pursuing their PhD in DYPU.
