Panel Discussion on World Environment Day at DYPU, Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

To mark the celebration of World Environment Day at the DYPU on 5th June 2024 a Panel Discussion on the theme of Land Restoration Desertification and Drought Resilience was organized by DCAL in collaboration with the School of Public Health, School of Architecture, School of Law at the DYPU. The Panel Members included well-known personalities from academia, environmentalists, actors and United Nations agencies.

The panelists included the following members:

1) Mr.Sandeep Mahato: Adjunct Faculty, School of Architecture, DYPU.

2) Mr Debi Goenka: Executive Trustee, Conservation Action Trust

3) Dr. Lakshmi Lingam: Chair Professor, DYPU School of Public Health

4) Ms. Pakhi Das: Biodiversity Conservation Policy and Strategy Specialist

5) Mr. Aalekh Kapoor: Actor and ESG Content Creator

6) Mr Sanjay Singh: Chief of Field Office, UNICEF Maharashtra Office The panel discussion was moderated by Ms Rajlakshmi Patil(Founder D CAL) and Ms Upasana, S (Final Year MBBS Student-School of Medicine, DYPU).The panel discussions focused on various environmental challenges that the country is facing due to environmental degradation and climate change. The panelists shared their perspectives on comprehensive planning and policy making with a focus on environmental conservation by keeping in mind the impacts on children, women as well the vulnerable populations. The panelists highlighted that climate change affects everyone but often the impacts are differential depending on intersectional inequalities.
