Programme Objectives
This is a hybrid programme tailored to meet the needs of busy working professionals. The overarching objective of this MPH programme is to empower these individuals with the skills and expertise necessary to excel in their roles as public health specialists.
By offering a flexible and accommodating learning structure, this programme aims to enhance problem-solving capacities and foster advanced critical thinking within the realm of public health. Graduates of this programme will be uniquely positioned to effectively tackle the intricate challenges posed by the field and make significant contributions to fulfilling our country’s public health requirements.
Duration & Pedagogy
The programme commences in the first week of November every year. It is designed for individuals with a minimum of two years of work experience. It is an 80 credits 24-month hybrid programme consisting of 10 required (core) courses and 2 electives.
The core courses aim to develop student competencies in the following core areas: Epidemiology; Biostatistics; Research Methodology; Design Thinking in Public Health; Communication in Public Health; Basics of Behaviour Change; Health Care Systems& Health Policy; Public Health Law & Ethics; Leadership in Public Health; Advances in Public Health
Students can opt for either one or two specialisation streams as electives among the following:
- Public Health Management
- Health Informatics
- Environmental Health
- Applied Epidemiology and Analytical Methods
The chosen elective streams will be taken as onsite courses in order to meet the hybrid requirements of the programme. Remaining part of the programme can be accessed remotely through the University’s dynamic learning management system
Pedagogy for each module has been meticulously planned with emphasis on experiential learning through interactive discussions, field assignments, and a capstone project. The learning management system will provide online learning content on a weekly basis with mandatory assignments and assessment.
Opportunities for interacting with internationally eminent faculties from the field of public health is a notable feature of this program besides having access to edX online portal offering various courses from universities across the globe.

Integrated MPH – PhD options
The integrated MPH-PhD gives you the opportunity to extend your knowledge and skills in public health research through additional research methodology courses and/or an advanced research project and progress from a coursework master’s degree to enrolment in a PhD.
Specialisation options
Make the most of your studies by getting a specialisation in Epidemiology / Public Health Management / Health Policy by incorporating additional coursework and credits during the two years tenure. Specialisation can enhance your career prospects in the chosen area of specialisation.
Flexible delivery
This degree provides flexible learning options so you can complete the degree according to your needs and commitments from anywhere in the world. Our online learning spaces facilitate collaborative learning so you can connect with fellow students and course convenors in real-time.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Individuals with a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years of relevant work experience
2. Individuals with a Master’s degree and a minimum of two years of relevant work experience
3. Individuals with a Doctoral (or international equivalent) degree in a field related to public health (e.g., Physicians, Dentists, Pharmacists, and those with a Doctorate in the Biological, Behavioural, or Social Sciences).
