The session was centred on the Implementation of the World Health Organisation’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) in India. The session gave a comprehensive overview of the various articles which have been listed under the FCTC and how much has India been able to implement the same. The session was largely informed by the conceptualisation of translating the international policies in the local contexts. It concluded with reiterating the need for multi sectoral collaboration in the tobacco policy in India and looking into the implementation deficit of tobacco policies at international and national level. The lecture was followed by a question-and-answer session where the participants raised queries on the various types of tobacco products being consumed, the role of the tobacco industry and multisectoral collaboration. The guest speaker answered all the queries in detail and also expressed his consent in engaging with the participants after the lecture.
