Dr CS Thammaiah is an epitome of leadership and guidance. Prior to joining DY Patil Deemed to be University as the Vice Chancellor, he was the Pro-Vice Chancellor at Manipal Academy of Higher Education, and the director of Manipal Global Academy of BFSI. This innovative initiative under his guidance managed to train 75,000 budding BFSI professionals.

Dr.Thammaiah envisions to rigorously develop the academic world to fit in with the requirements of the industries. Moreover, he aims at creating a learning ecosystem that brings together students, best-in-class faculty and the industry to create wholesome learning experience.

The amalgamation of academic proficiency and industrial connection, makes him an indispensable source of success for the university.

He has won several accolades that celebrates his leadership qualities. He was awarded the MaGE Exemplary leader award 2012-13, and Excellence Award – People Manager 2016-17.

“The dual burden of communicable and non -communicable diseases (NCDs) is overwhelming the fragile healthcare system of low- and middle-income countries like India. Compounding the problem are new challenges like environmental pollution, climate change, changing social order and so on. Inequity in access to healthcare is another area of concern. The COVID pandemic has further brought these disparities into sharp focus thereby highlighting the need for an energized public health system that can tackle these myriad problems. The DYPU School of Public Health established in the year 2021 has been envisaged as a centre of excellence with a focus on quality education, impactful research, and meaningful community engagement. With state-of-the-art infrastructure, dynamic faculty and a thoughtfully curated globally relevant curriculum the school is poised for great growth. I wish the school the very best in its endeavor to provide holistic education to public health leaders of tomorrow.”
